About Us
Master of Plaster is a plaster product formulated more than 25 years ago by a small, family owned restoration business in upstate New York near the Canadian border. The majority of their work pertained to ornamental plaster and historically significant buildings. Owner, Mike Kempster, continuously faced the issue of consistency when working with the ornamental plaster and flat surfaces. Creating a connection between the old work and the new material was extremely difficult and Mike realized that creating a material that could accomplish this transition was crucial to all plaster restoration projects.
After years of failed attempts with bonding agents and traditional plaster, a plaster restoration system, Master of Plaster Finish Systems, Inc., was established. The material was developed to completely restore the original historic fabric of the building. It has since evolved into a product that can be used over any clean, sound surface. Master of Plaster is one of the most revolutionary products to be introduced to the building trade in decades and has greatly impacted the profession of historical restoration.
One of the greatest benefits of the product is its ease of use, requiring no bonding agents or sanding. Thus making the process simple while also significantly reducing and eliminating the need for the removal of the original historic fabric. With this decrease in demolition costs, rubbish removal, and landfill costs comes an increase in profit margins. Also, historic restoration is an environmentally sensitive alternative to the alternate option of demolishing the structure. The efficiency level of this product as a resource is one of the highest on the market. There exists practically no waste from the creation to the application of the product.
Maintaining the green value of this product is of utmost importance. As an entirely natural product, Master of Plaster is free of VOC’s and other harmful chemicals that degrade the surrounding environment. The main focus of Master of Plaster is to enhance the quality of life for the inhabitants of the numerous projects and buildings in which the material is used. From the aesthetics and application of the material to the natural elements that comprise this material, the emphasis of the company continues to be focused on quality.
